A fishy skill!

14th April 2008
Unique experiences don’t have to be about jumping off objects or taking a chance with life, it can be about gaining a skill that you never thought you would have. The hottest cuisine on the street is of course sushi, it is after all low in fat and high in protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals – it is the ultimate in trendy health food.
But if you want to serve sushi to guests at your next dinner party a recipe book won’t really cut the mustard and ordering in just doesn’t have the same satisfaction. Why not then attend the latest Sushi workshops that are on offer?
The workshops vary in length but generally take 3 hours. You will start by learning all about the history of sushi and the ingredients that create the delicious morsels. Grasp a basic knowledge of the techniques necessary to create items such as California roll and Yellowtail Nigiri. Learn where to get the freshest ingredients necessary for the pure flavours and how to combine them in mouth watering bites.
The workshops are run by experienced sushi experts who love nothing more than imparting their knowledge on eager participants. One of the greatest benefits of these courses is of course sampling your work, and any you can’t finish consuming are wrapped up for you to take home and share with your loved ones. A parting gift is usually offered in the form of a sushi rolling mat or something equally as important for practicing your new skill.
Once mastered you can of course then plan your Japanese themed dinner party, thrilling and delighting your guests with your labour of love. What could be more rewarding than the admiration of your friends and family and the love of a new hobby?
